## Image Caption

Seal discovered during the excavation of the Mohenjo-daro archaeological site in the [Indus Valley](https://www.worldhistory.org/Indus_Valley_Civilization/) has drawn attention as a possible representation of a "yogi" or "proto-[Shiva](https://www.worldhistory.org/shiva/)" figure. This "Pashupati" (Lord of Animals, [Sanskrit](https://www.worldhistory.org/Sanskrit/) paśupati) seal shows a seated figure, possibly ithyphallic, surrounded by animals. 2600–1900 BCE.
