## Image Caption

This cuirassed bust of an emperor was installed at the centre of the pediment of the Greater [Propylaea](https://www.worldhistory.org/Propylaea/) at [Eleusis](https://www.worldhistory.org/Eleusis/) ([Greece](https://www.worldhistory.org/greece/)). Although the face is badly damaged, it may be a portrait of the emperor [Marcus Aurelius](https://www.worldhistory.org/Marcus_Aurelius/) who built the Greater Propylaea, the monumental entrance to the Sanctuary in the 2nd century CE.
