## Image Caption

This is a panel from a [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) [mosaic](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mosaic/) pavement. [Dionysos](https://www.worldhistory.org/Dionysos/) is shown dancing while a panther prances along beside him. Dionysos' red drape billows out and he wears a wreath. The mosaic has the name 'Dionysos' written in [Greek](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/greek/) beside him. The mosaic panel is 1.4m heigh, and 1.36m wide. The panel comes from a villa at [Halicarnassus](https://www.worldhistory.org/halicarnassus/), and dates to the 4th century CE. (BM 1857,1220.414: British Museum, London).
