## Image Caption

The inscription, unusually for a weight, is cut in reverse. It mentions that this stone weight was dedicated to the [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) of [Shamash](https://www.worldhistory.org/Utu-Shamash/), the sun [god](https://www.worldhistory.org/God/), at Sippar. It precisely gives the weight as 10 mina, 15 shekels, a little more than 5 kilograms. From Sippar (modern Tell [Abu](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Abu/) Habba, [Babel](https://www.worldhistory.org/babylon/) Governorate, Iraq), [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/). Circa 1400-1200 BCE. (The British Museum, London).
