## Image Caption

This is one of the [Amarna letters](https://www.worldhistory.org/Amarna_Letters/). In this clay tablet, the [Kassite](https://www.worldhistory.org/kassite/) king Burna-Buriash II (in [Babylon](https://www.worldhistory.org/babylon/), [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/)) corresponds with the [Egyptian](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Egyptian/) [pharaoh](https://www.worldhistory.org/pharaoh/) [Amenhotep III](https://www.worldhistory.org/Amenhotep_III/), asking him to send more [gold](https://www.worldhistory.org/gold/). Most of the [Amarna](https://www.worldhistory.org/Amarna/) letters were written in [Akkadian](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/akkadian/) [cuneiform](https://www.worldhistory.org/cuneiform/), rather than the ancient [Egyptian hieroglyphs](https://www.worldhistory.org/Egyptian_Hieroglyphs/). From modern-day Tell el-Amarna, Al-Minya Governorate, [Egypt](https://www.worldhistory.org/egypt/). Circa 1350 BCE. ME E 29785. EA 9 (Amarna number). (The British Museum, London)
