## Image Caption

This is a fragment of a female votive statue and was carved from diorite. The site and date of excavation are unknown. This piece was purchased from Captain H. V. Cowley in 1896 CE. Neo-[Sumerian](https://www.worldhistory.org/Sumerians/) period, [Ur](https://www.worldhistory.org/ur/) III, 2100-2000 BCE. From [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/), Iraq. (The British Museum, London).
