[Hercules](https://www.worldhistory.org/hercules/) and his son Telephus, 1st–2nd century CE, discovered in Tivoli (east of [Rome](https://www.worldhistory.org/Rome/)), [Italy](https://www.worldhistory.org/italy/). (Louvre Museum) This [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) copy appears to be based on a type of Hercules attested in [Greek sculpture](https://www.worldhistory.org/Greek_Sculpture/) as early as the second half of the 4th century BCE and influenced by the work of the sculptor Lysippus.
