A detail of the [pyramid](https://www.worldhistory.org/pyramid/) platform known as the 'Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent', [Xochicalco](https://www.worldhistory.org/Xochicalco/), central Mexico. The four walls of the structure have relief carvings which include large feathered [serpents](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Serpents/) and they form a four-sided open enclosure. The structure is accessed via a stairway on the west side. Constructed before 900 CE.
