The [cuneiform](https://www.worldhistory.org/cuneiform/) inscriptions on this basalt statue mention that this is the [god](https://www.worldhistory.org/God/) Kidudu, the guardian of the walls of [Ashur](https://www.worldhistory.org/ashur/) [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/). It was erected by King Shalmaneser III. Neo-Assyrian era, 835 BCE. From Ashur, [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/), Iraq. (The British Museum, London).
