## Image Caption

The Pula Arena is the name of the [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) [amphitheatre](https://www.worldhistory.org/amphitheatre/) located in Pula, Croatia. It was first constructed in wood during the time of [Augustus](https://www.worldhistory.org/augustus/) (27 BCE) and later replaced by an enlarged stone building completed during the reign of [Vespasian](https://www.worldhistory.org/Vespasian/) (68 CE). It is among the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the world.
