The Mixoparthenos (half-maiden), is a hybrid creature with a double fish-tail from the Black Sea. The limestone [sculpture](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Sculpture/) dates back to the 1st-2nd century CE and comes from Panticapaeum in Taurica (Crimea, Ukraine).

In [Herodotus](https://www.worldhistory.org/herodotus/)' Histories (4.9.2), Heracles mates with her, producing three sons, the youngest of which eventually became a founding figure of the [Scythians](https://www.worldhistory.org/Scythians/).
