This is a decorative element of [architecture](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/architecture/) which was used in temples and palaces. It is inscribed with [cuneiform](https://www.worldhistory.org/cuneiform/) inscriptions and was found in the [palace](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/palace/) of [Ashurnasirpal II](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ashurnasirpal_II/) to commemorate the new foundation of [God](https://www.worldhistory.org/God/) [Ninurta](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ninurta/)'s [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) at [Nimrud](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kalhu/), the Assyrian capital. From Nimrud, [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/), reign of Ashurnasirpal II (883-859 BCE).
