This gate, located at the end of Curetes Street in [Ephesus](https://www.worldhistory.org/ephesos/) ([Turkey](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/)), was dedicated to [Hadrian](https://www.worldhistory.org/hadrian/) in honour of the Emperor's visit to the [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) (in 124 or 129 CE).
