Requisitioning hidden grain in Ukraine, photograph by Max Alpert, 1 November 1930.

This photograph captures grain being dug up and requisitioned by Soviet authorities in Ukraine. During Stalin's collectivisation of [agriculture](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Agriculture/), many farmers hid grain and other foodstuffs so that the state did not requisition it. In this photograph, the grain has been buried in a cemetery.
