Although the engraving portrays the Ottoman figure as a "Sultan Achmet IV", the Austro-Turkish [War](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/War/) (1788-1791) saw Joseph II, Holy [Roman Emperor](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Emperor/), pitched against Sultan Abdul Hamid I and, following his [death](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Death/), Hamid's nephew Selim III.
