The northern curved end (*sphendone*) of the Roman Stadium of Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv), Bulgaria. Built in the early 2nd century CE, the stadium could accommodate up to 30,000 spectators. Most of the structure now lies beneath the modern [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) centre.
