This statue was made by sculptor [Alexander](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Alexander/) Doyle and originally installed at the entrance of [City](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) Park, New Orleans, in 1915. However, it was later removed in 2017 as part of the city’s initiative to take down the monuments to Confederate leaders.
