An amphibious assault at San Carlos was carried out by UK forces during the Falklands [War](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/War/) (April-June 1982) in order to surround the garrisoned Argentine forces nearby. The landings were part of larger naval and aerial skirmishes where British forces eventually retook the islands.
