## Image Caption

Uncollected trash during dustmen's strike, photograph by Henry Grant, Camden, London, February 1979.

In the late months of 1978 and early days of 1979, uncharacteristically cold and turbulent weather, combined with nationwide strike actions against pay rise limits imposed by the UK government, led to the period being poetically coined the "Winter of Discontent."

London Museum, Henry Grant Collection.
