Flat-bottomed, vibrantly colored tourist boats known as *trajineras* pass by a *chinampa,* a man-made agricultural island, in the canals of Xochimilco. The *[chinampas](https://www.worldhistory.org/Chinampas/)* and *trajineras* make the canals of Xochimilco a popular tourist attraction in Mexico.
