Photographed here are onlookers spectating the [Battle of Nashville](https://www.worldhistory.org/article/2816/battle-of-nashville/) (15-16 December 1864), a decisive Federal victory in the [American Civil War](https://www.worldhistory.org/American_Civil_War/) in which the Confederate Army of Tennessee, taking casualties it could not bear, was effectively removed from the conflict.
