# The Seal of Eustathios Rhomaios (Reverse)

This 11th-century [Byzantine](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Byzantine/) seal is presumed to be the official seal of [Eustathios Rhomaios](https://www.worldhistory.org/Eustathios_Rhomaios/) (DUMBARTON OAKS BZS.1958.106.5598). The date as well as the title and office on the seal match those of Rhomaios. It is 33 mm in diameter with a field of 24 mm. This is the reverse side of the seal and reads:

Εὐσταθ(ίῳ) μαγήστ\[ρ(ῳ)\] (καὶ) δρουγ\[γα\]ρ(ίῳ) τῆς Βίγλα(ς)

meaning Eustathios, magistros and droungarios of the Vigla.
