The amphitheatre of Uthina (Oudhna in modern-day Tunisia) was the third-largest [theatre](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/theatre/) in Tunisia after those at [Carthage](https://www.worldhistory.org/carthage/) and El Djem, with a capacity of around 16,000 spectators. It dates to the reign of [Hadrian](https://www.worldhistory.org/hadrian/) (r. 117-138 CE). An underground vaulted gallery provides access to the amphitheatre's basement, which features symmetrical vaults and rooms beneath the central arena.
