The Temple of Baalat in Thuburbo Majus in modern-day Tunisia is a small square temple dedicated to the [Punic](https://www.worldhistory.org/carthage/) goddess Baalat, chief goddess of the ancient [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) of [Byblos](https://www.worldhistory.org/Byblos/) (Gebal) in [Phoenicia](https://www.worldhistory.org/phoenicia/). The temple, whose plan shows both [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) and Oriental influence, features a semicircular porticoed courtyard with an angular outline, preceded by a small prostyle temple that stands on a podium.
