Depicted here is the ancient town of Sufetula's complex of three temples, dated c. 100-250 CE, dedicated to the Capitoline Triad, a trio of [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) deities: [Jupiter](https://www.worldhistory.org/jupiter/), [Juno](https://www.worldhistory.org/Juno/), and [Minerva](https://www.worldhistory.org/Minerva/). Sufetula is a significant archaeological site known for being home to the best-preserved [Roman forum](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Forum/) temples in Tunisia. The town was an important agricultural centre that later became a [Byzantine](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Byzantine/) regional capital, with the temples continuing to serve as a focal point of the [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/)'s impressive Roman and [Byzantine architecture](https://www.worldhistory.org/Byzantine_Architecture/).
