A planter and American military officer during the [Texas Revolution](https://www.worldhistory.org/Texas_Revolution/), Fannin served with the Texian army, fought and surrendered at the [Battle](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/battle/) of Coleto Creek, and was killed by order of Santa Anna shortly thereafter.
