Located at the modern-day historical site of the Alamo fort in San Antonio, Texas, the plaque includes a reproduction of the famous open letter sent by Travis on February 24, 1836, just after the [Battle of the Alamo](https://www.worldhistory.org/Battle_of_the_Alamo/) began, a critical moment in the [Texas Revolution](https://www.worldhistory.org/Texas_Revolution/). His message, commonly referred to as the "Victory or [Death](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Death/) letter," implored for reinforcements and support.
