During a power struggle for the throne of France in 1407, Duke Louis I of Orléans was assassinated by order of Duke John the Fearless of Burgundy. Louis I and Queen Isabeau, wife of King [Charles VI of France](https://www.worldhistory.org/Charles_VI_of_France/), formed a faction in the royal court that sought to rule France during Charles' many mental health episodes.
