Oreste Baratieri (1841-1901) was an Italian general and colonial administrator who served as the governor of Italian Eritrea from 1892 to 1896. He was among the responsible of the Italian defeat in the [battle](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/battle/) of Adwa (1896) against the Ethiopian army.
