## Image Caption

Statue of [Alfred the Great](https://www.worldhistory.org/Alfred_the_Great/) (r. 871-899) at the now ruined Shaftesbury Abbey, Dorset, which he founded in 888. Designed in 1984 by Andrew DuMont for a school, it was relocated to the abbey gardens in 2004.
