## Image Caption

*People Escaping from the Indian Massacre of 1862 in Minnesota, at Dinner on a Prairie,* the right half of a stereograph published by Whitney Gallery, St. [Paul](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Paul/), Minnesota, the photographer thought to be Adrian J. Ebell, 1862.

This photo is actually of "Mixed Bloods", who were rescued by non-hostile Dakota. The girl in the foreground wrapped in the striped blanket is Elise Robertson, the sister of Thomas Robertson, who acted as an intermediary between the hostile and non-hostile Dakota and the Whites.
