Chief Kanosh and his people were implicated by the Mormons in the [Mountain Meadows Massacre](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mountain_Meadows_Massacre/) of 1857 and were only exonerated in 2007 when the Mormons admitted they had orchestrated and carried out the massacre.
