The [Trinity](https://www.worldhistory.org/Trinity/) Altarpiece panels, oil on oak panels by Hugo van der Goes, 1478.

The four panels were probably the wings of a triptych. The open wings showed [James III of Scotland](https://www.worldhistory.org/James_III_of_Scotland/) and Margaret of Denmark before the Virgin. The closed wings depicted the Trinity worshipped by the donor Edward Bonkil.

Scottish National Gallery, Edinburgh.
