Life-size [bronze](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/bronze/) charioteer statue, set up by the tyrant Polyzalus from [Sicily](https://www.worldhistory.org/sicily/) as a tribute to [Apollo](https://www.worldhistory.org/apollo/), likely to commemorate his victory in the Pythian Games held at [Delphi](https://www.worldhistory.org/delphi/) every four years in 474 or 470 BCE. It was part of a larger four-horse [chariot](https://www.worldhistory.org/chariot/) composition and was found in 1896 at the Sanctuary of Apollo in Delphi.
