Limestone bust of [Zeus](https://www.worldhistory.org/zeus/)-Dushara from the courtyard enclosure of the Qasr al-Bint in the [Nabataean](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kingdom_of_Nabatea/) [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) of Petra ([Jordan](https://www.worldhistory.org/Jordan/)). Dushara, the chief deity of Petra and the head of the Nabataean [pantheon](https://www.worldhistory.org/Pantheon/), was identified with the [Greek](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/greek/) [god](https://www.worldhistory.org/God/) Zeus. This massive bust illustrates the meeting of [Hellenistic](https://www.worldhistory.org/Hellenic_World/) conventions with those of Syrian and Arabian art.
