## Image Caption

The Siq is the main entrance to the ancient [Nabataean](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kingdom_of_Nabatea/) [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) of Petra in southern [Jordan](https://www.worldhistory.org/Jordan/). It is a narrow gorge that winds its way approximately 1.2 kilometres (3/4 mi) and ends at Petra's most elaborate ruin, the Treasury (Al Khazneh). The many remnants of Nabataean history can be seen inside the Siq, including the Pave Road, originally constructed towards the end of the 1st century BCE.
