Gallery of the [Château de Chenonceau](https://www.worldhistory.org/Chateau_de_Chenonceau/), Loire Valley, France. The gallery was commissioned by [Catherine de' Medici](https://www.worldhistory.org/Catherine_de'_Medici/) (1519-1599). The gallery is 197 feet long (60 m) and 19.7 feet wide (6 m), hosted many lavish parties and is likely to have impressed such illustrious visitors as [Jean-Jacques Rousseau](https://www.worldhistory.org/Jean-Jacques_Rousseau/) (1712-1778), Harry Truman (1884-1972), and Charles Lindbergh (1902-1974).
