The Château d'Angers, also known as the Château des Ducs d'Anjou, is located in the town of Angers in the French department of Maine-et-Loire. The oldest buildings on this site can be traced back to prehistoric times. The site was also highly prized by the Gauls for its defensive role, and later by the Romans, who built the heart of the ancient town in the area. It was not until the 16th century that it acquired the appearance we know today.
