Dr. [Joseph Warren](https://www.worldhistory.org/Joseph_Warren/) (1741-1775), one of the most influential Boston revolutionaries in the leadup to the [American Revolutionary War](https://www.worldhistory.org/American_Revolutionary_War/), playing a vital role in organizing the [Battles of Lexington and Concord](https://www.worldhistory.org/article/2341/battles-of-lexington-and-concord/) (19 April 1775) and in the [Battle of Bunker Hill](https://www.worldhistory.org/article/2345/battle-of-bunker-hill/) (17 June 1775), during which he was killed. Oil on canvas portrait is by John Singleton Copley, c. 1765.
