Peyton Randolph (1721-1775), a prominent politician from colonial Virginia, who served as president of the [First Continental Congress](https://www.worldhistory.org/First_Continental_Congress/) (1774). Although Randolph died before the American [Declaration of Independence](https://www.worldhistory.org/article/2411/declaration-of-independence/), he is sometimes counted amongst the [Founding Fathers of the United States](https://www.worldhistory.org/collection/296/founding-fathers-of-the-united-states/).
