During her reign, Hatshepsut oversaw numerous construction projects and expeditions and established important [trade](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/trade/) relationships with other countries. She is often depicted in [Egyptian art](https://www.worldhistory.org/Egyptian_Art/) wearing traditional male pharaonic regalia, including the false beard and kilt, in order to emphasize her authority and legitimacy as a ruler.
