## Image Caption

Nautilus and marine-themed serving dishes produced by the [Etruria](https://www.worldhistory.org/Etruscan_Civilization/) factory of [Josiah Wedgwood](https://www.worldhistory.org/Josiah_Wedgwood/) (1730-95). The pearlware has gilded edges. The stems are decorated to resemble coral while the foot of each dish is in the form of a mussel shell. (British Museum, London)
