*The [Death](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Death/) of Chramm*, painting by Évariste Vital Luminais, 1879. The painting depicts the execution of Chramn (aka Chramm) and his family, by his own father King [Chlothar I](https://www.worldhistory.org/Chlothar_I/) (r. 511-561). After rebelling against his father Chramn, was sentenced to a particularly brutal death; he was tied up and locked in a poor man's hut along with his wife and daughters. Chramn was strangled to death before the hut was set on fire, leaving his wife and children to burn alive.

Brest's Museum of Fine Arts.
