The Indian [Triumph](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Triumph/) of [Dionysus](https://www.worldhistory.org/Dionysos/) [mosaic](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mosaic/) once decorated a dining room (triclinium) in Setifis, a colony for [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) veterans founded during the reign of [Nerva](https://www.worldhistory.org/Nerva/) (r. 96-98 CE). The central panel of the mosaic depicts the triumphal return of Dionysus from his [conquest](https://www.worldhistory.org/warfare/) of [India](https://www.worldhistory.org/india/). The [god](https://www.worldhistory.org/God/) is shown riding a [chariot](https://www.worldhistory.org/chariot/) pulled by two tigers. He is surrounded by prisoners, maenads, satyrs, and exotic animals. The mosaic is dated to the early 4th century CE.

Museum of Sétif, Algeria.
