Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany (1763-1827), second son of King George III of the United Kingdom. He led the British forces during the Flanders Campaign of 1792-1795 during the [French Revolutionary Wars](https://www.worldhistory.org/French_Revolutionary_Wars/) and later served as commander-in-chief of the British forces during the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815) until his resignation in 1809. He served as heir presumptive during the reign of his brother King George IV, until his [death](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Death/) in 1827.
