## Image Caption

Depiction of the trial of [Marie Antoinette](https://www.worldhistory.org/Marie_Antoinette/), 15 October 1793. Marie Antoinette herself is prominently featured on the right, arm outstretched as she defends herself. Sitting at the table across from her with the feathered hat is Fouquier-Tinville, chief prosecutor of the Revolutionary Tribunal; beside the proescutor, sitting prominently in the left with documents in hand is the ultra-radical journalist Jacques-René Hébert, the leading voice in the call for the queen's execution.
