An illustration of the public trial of [Warren Hastings](https://www.worldhistory.org/Warren_Hastings/) (1732 - 1818) in Westminster Hall from 1787. Hastings was a colonial administrator and the first Governor-General of the [East India Company](https://www.worldhistory.org/East_India_Company/). He was impeached by Parliament for corruption in [India](https://www.worldhistory.org/india/) but was acquitted. (From *Hutchinson's Story of the Nations*)
