[Bronze](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/bronze/) head of [Roman emperor](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Emperor/) [Hadrian](https://www.worldhistory.org/hadrian/) (117-138 CE) found in the River Thames in London in 1834. It belonged to a larger-than-life-size statue that may have been created and erected to commemorate Hadrian's visit to [Roman Britain](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Britain/) in 122 CE.
