Kilkis is part of the ancient Macedonian region. If one could believe [Herodotus](https://www.worldhistory.org/herodotus/), the origin of the [Argead Dynasty](https://www.worldhistory.org/Argead_Dynasty/), and as a consequence, the Macedonian kingdom lies in [Perdiccas](https://www.worldhistory.org/Perdiccas/) of [Argos](https://www.worldhistory.org/argos/), offspring of the Temenids of Argos, whose progenitor was the legendary [Hercules](https://www.worldhistory.org/hercules/), son of [Zeus](https://www.worldhistory.org/zeus/).
