The [tomb](https://www.worldhistory.org/tomb/) of [Juan Ponce de León](https://www.worldhistory.org/Juan_Ponce_de_Leon/) (c. 1460-1521) in Saint [John the Baptist](https://www.worldhistory.org/John_the_Baptist/) Cathedral in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Ponce de León was a [conquistador](https://www.worldhistory.org/Conquistador/) who became the first governor of Puerto Rico and, landing in Florida on an expedition of exploration, gave the region that name in 1513.
